Hinter Austra verbirgt sich die Kanadierin Katie Stelmanis, die ursprünglich Opernsängerin werden wollte, nun aber in die Fußstapfen von The Knife, Zola Jesus oder Florence And The Machine tritt. Wie die beiden zuletzt genannten Künstlerinnen verfügt Katie Stelmanis über eine Stimme, mit der sie Glas zum Bersten bringen kann. Beschwörend, intensiv und durchdringend bis aufs Mark zeigt sie auf ihrer ersten EP einen Vorgeschmack darauf, was auf ihrem Debüt zu hören ist: dunkle Songs überwiegend auf Sequencern eingespielt, ein Sound der bereits vor 30 Jahren von innovativen deutschen Bands wie DAF, Mania D oder Malaria! geprägt wurde und der nun von vielen jungen Künstlern derzeit wieder aufgegriffen und modernisiert wird. Am 16.mai erschien das Debut-Album "Feel It Brake" auf Domino Records.
